قام رجل مطلوب فيما يتعلق بعمل عنصري في سوبر ماركت T&T في ميسيسوجا بتسليم نفسه للشرطة.
وتقول الشرطة إن جون مكاش (48 عاما) من ميسيسوجا تلقى استدعاء بعد إحداث اضطراب ، ومن المقرر أن يمثل أمام المحكمة في 25 سبتمبر للرد على الاتهام.
وقع الحادث ، الذي تم تصويره بالفيديو ، في 5 يوليو في المتجر 715 في سوبر ماركت T&T في ميسيسوجا.
يبدأ الفيديو الذي مدته أربع دقائق تقريبًا مع الرجل الذي يبدو أنه يتسوق مع امرأة آسيوية ، ويتحدث إلى موظف حول سياسة القناع الإلزامي في المتجر.
و تطور الموقف بسرعة إلى صخب و كلام عنصري وجهه إلى موظفي المتجر الآسيويين.
و في بيان قالت الشرطة أنها ملتزم بمتابعة هذه الحوادث و أن الإبلاغ عن جرائم الكراهية أمر ضروري لوقفها.
“تؤثر حوادث جرائم الكراهية على مجتمعنا ، مما يخلق تأثيرًا مضاعفًا. “يمكن أن تزيد من الشعور بالضعف والقلق والخوف ، ليس فقط على الفرد الذي وقع ضحية العنصرية مباشرة ولكن ، كما رأينا في هذه الحادثة ، على المجتمع كل”.
هذا و تم مانع دخول الراجل من جميع الأسواق و المتجر التابعة لـ T&T Supermarket, Loblaws and Shoppers Drug Mart.
A man wanted in connection with a racist tirade at T&T Supermarket in Mississauga has turned himself in to police.
Police say 48-year-old John McCash of Mississauga was served with a summons for causing a disturbance and is scheduled to appear in court on September 25 to answer to the charge.
The incident, which was caught on video, happened on July 5 at the store at 715 Central Parkway West.
The nearly four-minute video begins with the man, who appears to be shopping with an Asian woman, talking to a female employee about the store’s mandatory mask policy.
His anti-mask stance quickly evolved into a racist rant directed at the store’s Asian employees.
Chief Nishan Duraiappah said in a statement the police service is committed to pursuing these incidents and reporting hate crimes is essential to stopping them.
“Hate crime incidents impact our community, creating a ripple effect. It can increase feelings of vulnerability, anxiety, and fear, not only on the individual who has directly been victimized but, as we have seen with this incident, on the broader community,” said Chief Duraiappah.
Loblaws Companies Limited, which is the parent company for T&T Supermarket, released a statement on Facebook last week, saying the man has been banned from all their stores including T&T Supermarket, Loblaws and Shoppers Drug Mart.
